This is a medium graded route, good walking shoesor boots are sssential. Walkers need to be physically able to do 3 miles and above. We start and end on the canal towpath but most of this route is undulating and alittle more demandinng than most of my other canal walks.
We meet at Crooklands Stable adjacent to bridge 166 postcode LA7 7NW. 9.45am for 10 am start. There are no WCs at Crooklands, the nearest ia at Canal Garage (Texaco petrol station) on the A65 3 minute drive south.
The return part of the walk follows footpaths and tracks back to the Lancaster Canal and Crooklands Stable and convenient for the Crooklands Hotel, excellent Refreshmets and fine local ales.
Well beaved dogs are welcome on the walk with most of the route requiring on the lead or under close control.
