Ribble Link and Lancaster Canal Walk 7th June 2025
Length of walk 6.5 miles, 4 hours approx. Led by Nigel Hardacre an easy route, but good walking shoes or boots are recommended as we go through fields to ‘connect’ both canals. There is the old Lancaster Canal (1797), and the ‘new’ Ribble Link (2002) plus other local history from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Meet at Haslam Park main car park off Bristow Avenue. 9.15am for a 9.30 a.m. start. (PR2 1JE)
(People arriving by car cannot turn right into the Park (Bristow Avenue) going out from Preston, but they can turn left coming in from the Blackpool direction. Coming from Preston you will have to go past, turn further up and then come back.)
The return part of the walk stops of at the Final Whistle café and Uclan Sports ground for outside seating and WC’s.
Well behaved dogs are welcome on the walk with the most of the route requiring them to be on a lead or under close control.
This walk is organised in conjunction with Lancaster Canal Trust.
