Lancaster Canal Trust represents the interests of all users of the Lancaster Canal and campaigns for the conservation of the Lancaster Canal and restoration of the “Northern Reaches” from Tewitfield to Kendal.
About Membership
Membership is open to anyone of any age, to families as well as individuals and organisations. Our present membership includes anglers, boaters, naturalists, ramblers and those who simply enjoy walking along the towpath. We welcome both active members and those who wish to take a less active part but have an interest in the canal. The Trust publishes a magazine, Waterwitch, which is sent free to all members twice a year.

Volunteers make a real difference and each oppertunity provides its own experience:

During the winter months, members participate in Working Parties to help the restoration and/or maintenance of the canal. During the summer, members crew our own Trip Boat NB Waterwitch. With five crew needed each Sunday and Bank Holiday to drive the boat, talk to the passengers and man the shore base we are always looking for more volunteers.
The Trust attends a number of events along the whole length of the canal to publicise our cause and to raise money. We are always in need of more volunteers to staff our stand. Members give illustrated talks to interested groups throughout the year, and we are keen to add to our panel of speakers.
