Exploring the old Lancaster Canal in Whittle-le-Woods – The Inland Waterways Association
A 4 mile walk of approximatley 3 hours Leader Nigel Hardacre of The Lancaster Canal Trust.
An easy route but good walking shoes or boors are reccomended as we walk mainly on footpaths and tracks on both canals. The old Lancaster Canal Built 1796-1803 and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal that connectrd to it in 1816 plus other local historyย (wharves, coal yards, lime kilns, tunnels, quaries and chemical works from the 19th and 20th centuries.
Meet at Malt House Farm pub car park off Moss Laneย PR6 8LSย ย 9.45 am for a 10.00 am start.
